Invisalign

1

Invisalign® is Clear

Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that allows you to straighten your teeth discreetly and comfortably. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners that fit snugly over your teeth. These aligners are virtually invisible, making it possible to straighten your teeth without anyone knowing.

2

Invisalign® is Removable

Unlike braces, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene. The removable Invisalign aligners offers you the flexibility and convenience to manage your dental care effortlessly.

3

Invisalign® is Comfortable

No metal brackets or wires to cause mouth irritation, and less time in the dentist’s chair getting adjustments. This means you can enjoy a more comfortable experience throughout your orthodontic treatment, with fewer visits to the dentist’s office for routine check-ups and modifications.

How can I straighten my teeth without metal braces?

You can straighten your teeth without metal braces by using clear aligners like Invisalign®. Invisalign is a series of custom-made, nearly invisible trays that fit over your teeth. They gently move your teeth into the desired position over time. Unlike traditional braces, there are no brackets or wires. This makes them more comfortable and much less noticeable. You can also remove them when eating, brushing, and flossing.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

The cost of Invisalign® can vary depending on the complexity of your case and where you live. On average, treatment can range from $3,000 to $7,000. Factors such as how many aligners you need and how long your treatment lasts can affect the cost. Many insurance plans offer coverage for Invisalign, similar to traditional braces, and payment plans are often available to make the treatment more affordable.

What is Invisalign® made of?

Invisalign® aligners are made from a medical-grade thermoplastic material called SmartTrack®. This material is smooth, flexible, and designed specifically for Invisalign treatment. It’s free of BPA and phthalates, making it safe to wear in your mouth. The aligners are clear and designed to fit snugly over your teeth.

How long does Invisalign® treatment take?

The length of your Invisalign® treatment depends on your specific needs, but it typically takes between 12 to 18 months. In some simple cases, treatment may be as short as six months. For more complex cases, it could take longer. Your orthodontist will give you a more precise estimate after evaluating your teeth.

Are Invisalign® permanent?

Invisalign® is not permanent in itself; the aligners are temporary and meant to move your teeth over time. However, the results of Invisalign can be permanent if you follow through with the treatment plan and wear retainers after your aligners. Without retainers, teeth can shift back over time, so retainers help maintain the new alignment.

How often must I wear my aligners?

To be effective, you should wear your Invisalign® aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. You only remove them to eat, drink anything other than water, and for brushing and flossing. Consistency is key to keeping your treatment on track and ensuring that your teeth move according to the plan.

Are there any restrictions on what I can eat?

No, one of the advantages of Invisalign® is that there are no food restrictions. Since the aligners are removable, you can eat anything you want, including hard or sticky foods that are usually off-limits with traditional braces. Just remember to take your aligners out while eating and brush your teeth before putting them back in to avoid trapping food particles in the trays.

Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?

In the beginning, you might notice a slight lisp or change in speech as you get used to the aligners. This is common with any dental appliance. Most people adapt within a few days, and speech returns to normal as you get accustomed to wearing the trays.

Is there any discomfort with Invisalign® treatment?

You may feel some pressure or discomfort when you switch to a new set of aligners, as your teeth are being gently moved into a new position. This discomfort is usually mild and temporary, lasting only a few days. It’s a sign that the aligners are working. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help if needed.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

You should clean your aligners every time you brush your teeth. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear, unscented soap, or Invisalign’s own cleaning crystals. Avoid toothpaste, as it can be abrasive and scratch the aligners. Make sure to rinse your aligners with lukewarm water—never hot water, as it can warp the plastic. Read our article “How to Take Care of Your Invisalign Aligners” for more information.

How often do I see an orthodontist?

You will generally visit your orthodontist every 6 to 8 weeks during Invisalign® treatment. These check-ups allow your orthodontist to monitor your progress and provide you with your next sets of aligners. These visits are usually shorter and less frequent compared to traditional braces adjustments.

What happens after my treatment is complete?

Yes, after your Invisalign® treatment is complete, you will need to wear retainers to keep your teeth in their new positions. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back, so retainers are crucial for maintaining your results. Your orthodontist will provide you with retainers and instructions on how long and how often to wear them.
